Youth Ministry Overview

The Student Ministry at FBC is dedicated to helping 6th - 12th grade students grow in their personal faith and discipleship, preparing them for their Christian walk as independent young adults. We want to model and teach students how to make their faith their own, seeking the Lord each day through a dedication to the Word of God, prayer, and worship.  Much greater than a list of "must" and "must nots" is the vision that our students will passionately embrace their faith and follow Jesus not out of mere routine or religious ritual, but out of an overflowing gratitude for the impact that the Gospel has had on their life.

Youth Ministry Schedule

Sunday school (9:15-10:15am)

In Sunday School, our students investigate scripture in-depth through a direct verse-by-verse study through the bible.  Our goal is to help students learn how to do more than just "read scripture" by also taking the time to understand God's word, embrace the message it imparts to our lives now, and discuss how to live out what the Lord has called us to.  During Sunday School we also have a time of worship, for the joy of praising the LORD and preparing our hearts to receive His word.

Sunday Worship (10:30am)

Students join the rest of the congregation for Sunday worship service, and are welcome to sit together at the front of the church with the rest of the youth group or join their families during this time of worship and teaching.   On the last Sunday of each month students help to welcome and usher, holding doors and handing out bulletins for those coming to worship.

Sunday Evening (6:30pm)

Sunday evening service is focused on discipleship and accountability, carrying the messages we have heard and ensuring we have a clear understanding of how to integrate them into our Christian lives.  This is a time of open discussion that is flexibly organized to meet students where they are currently at in their walk.  Each session we start by discussing what we are currently reading in scripture or personal devotion, and how the LORD is using that in our lives. Once a month, we have a discipleship dinner where we enjoy a meal and fellowship during our discussion.

Wednesday Evening (6:30pm)

Our Wednesday evening activities are designed to be action packed, exciting, and engaging, and an opportunity for students to put their faith into action.  We have fun icebreakers and opening games, a time of contemporary worship.  Our lessons are devotional series focused on scripture, connected with current life issues, and saturated with the Gospel of the life changing power of Jesus Christ.  Wednesday nights also include small group time, giving students the opportunity to get connected with their peers and our leaders, pray together, encourage one another, and build strong relationships.

Serving

We want to teach the students at FBC that serving is an integral part of following Jesus. The students are given opportunities to serve Jesus by serving others at home and abroad. For example, on the third Wednesday of each month FBC Students serve at Our Daily Bread food pantry, helping with the backpack program for Hardin County students and for the past couple years our students have gone to serve and share the Gospel in Puerto Rico.
